Confusing to me
[edit]the sentence "Lydon was kicked out of school at age fifteen after a run-in with a teacher, and went on to attend Hackney College, where he befriended John Simon Ritchie, and Kingsway Princeton College." is confusing to me. Kingsway Princeton College? is that someone's name or a college? lol. Forgive me, I'm not familiar with Kingsway Princeton College. - Princeton College was the name of a college in Camden that changed its name to Kingsway College before 2000.It merged with Westminster College to become Westminster College. It has an impressive list of notable alumni. 82.2.89.219 (talk) 10:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Should say it became "Westminster Kingsway College" after the merge. 82.2.89.219 (talk) 10:29, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Duplication
[edit]Under PiL to present, we've got the Israel controversy and then again in a section below about boycotts. The entire passage is repeated. Cheers Thelisteninghand (talk) 21:43, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]Isn't he British as he did say that he views himself as British even though his parents came from Ireland. GTAGamer245 (talk) 13:46, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- It's complicated. He's a citizen of the UK by birth, Ireland by parent's heritage, and the US by naturalization. CAVincent (talk) 03:20, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- OK. Because the short description still refers to him as British so I was wondering would it be simpler to just add "British" to the opening paragraph or remove it from the short description? If he's British by birth, could we just add "British-born as another alternative? GTAGamer245 (talk) 14:16, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- The opening line continues to see disruption as to Lydon's nationality. As I've noted, my preference would be to just leave nationality out of the lead and address the question in the main body of the article. However, having a stable lead is important, so I'll try switching to "British-born" in the lead per GTAGamer245's suggestion, and see how that goes. CAVincent (talk) 04:18, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Lydon acknowledges his Irish heritage but thinks of himself as working-class English. From his vivid and entertaining two autobiographies I gather he is more preoccupied with his early personal circumstances (poverty) than his parents heritage. Which is fine and so we (IMO) should describe him as English. Ceoil (talk) 07:38, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- "British" encompasses "English". May the road rise with you. CAVincent (talk) 07:56, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- He is specific about English vs British....has dodgy (to me) views on BREXIT. Better to say English, which better captures his London Irish background. Road rise with you also. Ceoil (talk) 08:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
