No conscription

[edit]

It is not correct that "compulsory military service in China has never been enforced due to large numbers of military and paramilitary personnel". Large numbers of military and paramilitary personnel are only achieved by conscription. During the civil war and subsequent invasion of Korea only conscription gave the CPC sufficient numbers of personnel. Today it still conscripts very large numbers of personnel.Royalcourtier (talk) 02:32, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The law may be on the books, but it hasn't been enforced in 75 years. PLA wants nothing to do with conscripts, in fact it's tough to get into the army even as a volunteer - you have to compete for a spot. 45.145.17.61 (talk) 18:44, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

'Weapons and Equipment' mentions Chinese participation in Zapad-81 when the source provided references their hosting of West/Interaction 2021(source calls Zapad/Interaction-2021). 2603:800C:4001:26A8:EFDD:7B20:A8AD:1E9F (talk) 09:51, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The PLA is the armed wing and military force of the Peoples republic of China(to say it is the military of the CPC doesn't make sense, as militaries are associated with countries, if you go to the CPC page the PLA is listed as the armed wing of the party) Boahn002.209 (talk) 17:22, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
